How we work

A relocation is a construction project with a very short programme, so most of the work happens before the move weekend. We map every item to a destination position, agree the sequence with your IT contact, and protect lift lobbies, floors and door frames at both ends.

Because we also do fit-out, electrical and joinery, the new site can be made ready by the same team, which removes the usual argument about whose delay caused the desks to arrive before the power was live.

Why moves go wrong, and how we prevent it

A move rarely fails because a lorry was late. It fails because nobody agreed who was dismantling the workstations, because the new floor was not ready for furniture on the morning it arrived, because the lift in one of the two buildings was not booked, or because the IT equipment came up last when it needed to be first. So we start from the reverse: what has to be working on Monday morning, and what therefore has to happen on Friday.

From there we produce a move plan — sequence, labelling scheme, floor plan showing where each item lands, access and lift bookings for both buildings, and a list of what is being disposed of rather than moved. Because we are also a contractor, we can carry out the making good at the outgoing premises and any alterations at the incoming one, which is usually where a move otherwise stalls between two suppliers.

A worked example: a phased corporate move in Cyber City

The clearest illustration of how we run a large move is the relocation we project-managed for a leading international financial services firm at 1 Cyber City, Ebene. It was delivered as a three-week phased move with zero business disruption. The physical scope included 1,000 monitors, 500 docking stations and monitor arms, critical IT and server rack relocation, and specialist handling of screens from 55 inch to 85 inch, followed by full post-move installation and quality assurance.

The reason it worked was the phasing rather than the muscle. Departments were moved in agreed blocks so that no team ever lost a full working day: their desks were dismantled and labelled at the end of one day and rebuilt, cabled and tested before the start of the next. IT and server equipment was treated as a separate, higher-risk workstream with its own window, its own handling protocol and its own sign-off, because a server rack that arrives safely but late is still a failure. Every item carried an inventory label tied to a destination position, so nothing had to be identified by memory at the far end. And a post-move installation and QA pass caught the small things - a docking station not seated, a monitor arm at the wrong height, a cable run left untidied - before the users found them.

How we plan a move

Planning starts with an inventory and a destination plan, not with a truck. We walk both buildings, map what is being moved to where, and record what is being disposed of rather than moved, because paying to relocate furniture nobody wants is the most common avoidable cost in a move. We then check the practical constraints at both ends: lift dimensions and booking windows, loading bay access, door and corridor widths, floor protection requirements and permitted working hours. In multi-tenant Ebene and Cyber City buildings the goods lift schedule is often the real critical path.

From that we issue a move programme with phases, a labelling scheme, a crate and packing schedule, and the responsibilities on each side written down. Sensitive material - archives, HR files, financial records - is handled with a documented chain of custody. Where IT equipment is involved, we agree the shutdown, transport and re-commissioning sequence with your IT team in advance so the network comes back in the right order.

Beyond furniture: the works that come with a move

Very few moves are only a move. Because we also deliver fit-out, electrical works and civil trades, the making-good at the old premises and the small works at the new one sit under the same contract: additional power and data positions, partition adjustments, joinery modifications, patching and painting, and reinstatement to satisfy a lease obligation. We have also carried out related logistics work such as dismantling and reassembling an archive block for an offshore company in Ebene, and secure electronic waste removal with full chain of custody for an insurance company in Port Louis.

Household and executive relocation

The same discipline applies to residential moves, including for overseas owners who are not on the island during the move. Inventory mapping, packing and unpacking, safe handling and reliable transport are handled by our own supervised teams, with photographic records at both ends so an absent owner can see the condition of their property.
